Easter Offering 2011

Share the joy of Easter around the world! The 2011 Easter Offering supports church-led community redevelopment in Haiti and other global mission projects around the world. This week and next, you have the opportunity to support these projects throughout the upcoming year. Please place your gifts in the special Easter offering envelope provided at church on Sundays.

Open Door Church Easter Parking Tradition

Easter Sunday is a unique opportunity for the church.  We will have visitors and guests from the surrounding community including your friends, co-workers and neighbors. Our prayer is that they will experience something in our service, in our people or in our community that brings them closer to Jesus.  Also, the blessing of additional people will mean some adjustments to our Sunday morning routine to make sure everyone can enjoy our Easter service together.
Parking can be a real challenge if you are visiting a church for the first time, so let's leave the best parking for visitors.  Give yourself a little more time, park farther away and enjoy the walk.  It's good for you!  ;)  Thanks for doing what you can to help us make our guests feel welcome!

Mothers Together Spring Fellowship Brunch
Thursday, April 28, 9:00-11:30 a.m.
Fellowship Hall

Our keynote speaker, Joanie Tankersley, will explore the topic: If God Loves me, Can I Love Myself?  The heart of God is to love...love the world, love the sinner and love the saint. But loving myself can get foggy. How can knowing Jesus more deeply enable me to love myself - and therefore my kids - with the same passion he does?

Childcare available. Register today!

This Week:

Holy Week and Easter Services
Dates, times and locations as listed below

Join us as we take time during the week leading up to Easter to contemplate and celebrate the sacrifice of love Jesus gave to make it possible for us to have an up close and personal relationship with God, culminating in a celebration of the resurrection!

Maundy Thursday Communion
Thursday, April 21, 7:00 p.m., Fellowship Hall

Join us for a special remembrance of the Last Supper of our Lord with his disciples, hosted by our own Scott Palmbush and Tim Boyer, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View!  This 4th annual combined service has become a beloved tradition for both congregations and will feature a time for communion and an opportunity to anoint one another with oil, as we recall the example Jesus demonstrated as He taught his disciples to serve one another.  You won't want to miss the sweet blessing of this evening, so be sure to mark this on your calendar!  Contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org.

Good Friday Service
Friday, April 22, 7:00 p.m., First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary

First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View invites us to join them in the Sanctuary for a contemplative evening service, led by Tim Boyer of First Presbyterian Church.  At this special service we will take time to reflect on the great love of our God and His willingness to spare no expense in bridging the gap between death and life so that unbroken relationship with Him could be restored to us now and always.  Contact Margie Haines, office@fpcmv.org.

Sunrise Service
Sunday, April 24, 6:30 a.m., under the cross

First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View extends a warm invitation to join them for an early morning celebration of the resurrection on Easter morning.  This casual outdoor service is scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. on the patio under the cross near the Sanctuary.  Rain will move the service indoors.  Dress warm, bring a hot drink and ready your heart for a time of rejoicing.  A light breakfast will be served following the service.  Contact Margie Haines, office@fpcmv.org.

Easter Sunday Services
Sunday, April 24, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m., Fellowship Hall

Come join the celebration and bring your friends!  Prayerfully consider who in your life might be blessed by an invitation to join you for church on Easter Sunday.  Special music during the services and an Easter egg hunt for children following both services will make this a memorable time for all ages. Please join us in praying for the people affected by this disaster and for their safety and recovery efforts.

We have learned that MPPC's Members in Mission who were in Sendai, Japan, are safe.  We are in touch with our mission and ministry contacts in Japan and we are looking into how we can help.

To contribute to this effort, you can send a check to MPPC with "Japan" on the memo line.  Watch mppc.org/japan for updates.
