Ministry Celebration and Believer’s Baptism
Sunday, June 5, 2011, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Come party with us as we take time to contemplate and celebrate what God has done among and through us this year! We will play games, enjoy one another, share dinner and stories and then rejoice with those participating in immersion baptism to round out our celebration.
Dinner: A "beach picnic" themed dinner will be provided for a suggested donation of $5/person or $20/family. Bring a dessert to share!
Baptism: If you have committed your life to Jesus and have not been baptized, you are invited to register for participation in the full immersion baptism celebration. (Those who have been baptized are welcomed to participate in a reaffirmation of their baptism by profession of faith.)

Our local Service Outreach Team invites you to join them in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family in Cupertino! This home build is being made possible by Humanity Silicon Valley's All Faiths Alliance, which, in addition to Open Door Church Mountain View, includes other church partners in Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
There are many ways to be involved in this effort! Construction experience is not a prerequisite to be involved in the "All Faiths House"! People are needed to help with marketing/communication, fundraising, family selection and construction crew support. At the construction site, in addition to people working on construction tasks, we will need people to help with set-up, checking in volunteers, breakfast, lunch and clean-up. There is an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to be involved.
Want to learn more!? Come to the All Faiths Alliance Dinner on June 4 and find out how you can participate! Dinner: $12/person (children under 6 years eat free) RSVP by May 27: http://allfaithsdinner.eventbrite.com. For more information contact Lissa Sheldon, LAUMC, 408.371.9446, lsheldon@yahoo.com.
In order for children in Ethiopia to be able to go to school they must have a pair of shoes. Unfortunately this is an expense that most families in the community of Addis Ababa, where MPPC has sent several short term mission teams, cannot afford. The good news is that we can do something about that!
Over the next two weeks, you will have an opportunity to pick up a label with a child's name and shoe size on it. In the following weeks, simply purchase a sturdy pair of shoes for the child indicated on the label and return them to a designated collection area at the church on Sunday mornings.
In partnership with MPPC's Cafe services, we are aiming to collect a total of 200 pairs of shoes - meaning that 200 kids in Addis Ababa will be able to go to school!! Won't you join us!? Contact Nancy Rosa, nkrosa@comcast.net.
Check out the the informational video on YouTube to see photos of the Addis Ababa community and the faces of some of the children who will be impacted by this project!

Signs of Hope Camp
May is National Foster Care Awareness Month and our local Service Outreach Team would like to invite you to prayerfully consider making a difference in the life of a foster child. Counselors, Carnival Volunteers and Day Helpers are needed. Help One Child can provide you with several different opportunities to minister to the 1,100 foster children in our region and to the families who have devoted their lives to helping them heal. Help Make Vacation Bible School a Reality!
If you'd like an opportunity to build into our kids as well as reaching out to kids in our community, we're excited to invite you to join the VBS volunteer crew! Whether you can join us for the whole week, part of the week — or would prefer to help behind the scenes in your spare time, we’ve got a place for you!
Your involvement can be as simple as baking cookies for the volunteer break room, or as central as leading a crew of kids throughout the week. More information about volunteer opportunities is available via our online VBS Volunteer Form. A paper version of this form is also available at church on Sundays. Contact Angelyn Knab, aknab@mppc.org.

Support Japan Relief Efforts
As you know, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake on Friday, March 11, caused severe damage in Japan and triggered a powerful tsunami as well as nuclear hazards.
Please join us in praying for the people affected by this disaster and for their safety and recovery efforts.
We have learned that MPPC's Members in Mission who were in Sendai, Japan, are safe. We are in touch with our mission and ministry contacts in Japan and we are looking into how we can help.
To contribute to this effort, you can send a check to MPPC with "Japan" on the memo line. Watch mppc.org/japan for updates.
