September 6, 2009 Sermon:
"The Great Invitation"
Scott Palmbush

At ODCMV we desire our small groups to be communities where you belong in a safe environment, become more like Jesus, and bless others!
Come find your place at our Small Group Faire on September 13 and 20, where all will have the opportunity to sign up to participate in a small group.
Provide a place for others to belong! As we gear up for launch, we're looking for people who are open to leading, facilitating, or hosting a new small group. No seminary degree is required — just a commitment to be available, and a heart to watch God work. We will help with ideas, support, and training.
Leading a small group is a wonderful way to encourage others to grow in their relationships with one another and with God. And you are guaranteed to grow, as well. Small group sign-ups will begin in September. Contact Jane Sumner, 408.356.5649, JaneESumner@aol.com, if you are interested in leading a small group.
***LEADERSHIP POTLUCK RESCHEDULED***
In lieu of our previously announced Leadership Gathering Potluck originally scheduled for Sunday, September 6, please join us and the rest of our church family for the Fall Kick-Off Potluck and Evening Service on Sunday, September 20 for a time of food, fellowship and worship as a church family. See article below in the "Mountain View Campus Happenings" section for full details.

Mothers Together Mountain View Launches September 10 - 9:30-11:30 a.m.
We are excited to announce our launch on September 10! Mothers Together is a unique community. We come together to receive support, to learn and to grow. At Mothers Together, we believe deeply in the importance of relating to you as God's beloved daughter - the foundation of who you are. Each month, September through May, we will spend time together in small groups as well as in one large group in Fellowship Hall at Open Door Church Mountain View.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Thursdays of each month. Each meeting will include teaching, small group discussion, and time for intentional connection and prayer.
All Togethers
4th & 5th Thursdays of each month. These mornings include guest speakers as well as time for fellowship and discussions with other moms on topics of faith, motherhood, and personal growth.
The Children's Program, which is supported by the church and through donations, welcomes children from 3 months through Kindergarten. Infants are welcome to stay with mom.
So we can plan appropriately for your attendance and for childcare, please visit our online registration page to register you and your child(ren).
Our prayer is for Mothers Together to be hallowed ground - a place during the week where there are no barriers to receiving and feeling God's love and grace ... AND the love and grace from each other. Please come as you are - no matter what stage you're in. We look forward to welcoming you and to hearing how God is working in your life.

Men's Purity Conference - Saturday October 10, 2009 - 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Men Pursuing Purity invites you to a one-day conference, a rallying cry for healing and freedom from sexual addiction, for all men who struggle to remain pure in our sexually broken culture. Join us as we draw near to God to learn not only His will for our lives as men, but His grace when we cry out for mercy. Led by Peter Kockelman, we'll be challenged to see our sexuality according to God's design, and learn strategies for holy living. Together we will seek to lean not upon own efforts but upon His power to transform us into the men He has created us to be. Registration: $30. (Online Registration coming soon.) Contact Peter Kockelman, 650.224.3886, pkockelman@summitsteelworks.com.
Mountain View Campus Happenings
Fall Kick-Off Potluck and Evening Service - Sunday, September 20, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Together we'll celebrate the launch of "The Ripple Effect", a year long series that will guide the ministry focus of our church - on all campuses. The evening service will include worship and a brief overview of the series. Scott will offer some insight about what it will look like and how we might prepare our hearts and church for the year long adventure God has in store for us. There will also be opportunities to encourage one another with stories about where we see God at work in our lives and in our community. You're not going to want to miss this chance to revel in God's goodness!
