Prayer Ministry Training
Sunday, November 8, 12:30-2:30 p.m., Fireside Room
or Monday, November 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m., Church Office

We are offering "One-on-One Prayer" training. This is an opportunity to come together and share techniques we have all learned on how to pray for people. This training will incorporate some written materials from the "One-on-One Prayer" class offered at the Menlo Park campus. We will also explore ways to hear from God while praying for others. And we will pass out a list of resources our church has available on the varied needs of the congregation.

If you are interested in the prayer ministry or want to learn more about praying for others, we would love to meet you at this training session. RSVP to Michelle Haugen, tomichelle@gmail.com.

Holiday Gift Fair
Saturday, November 21, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
and Sunday, November 22, 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m.

Do you ever wonder if there is something you can do to help break the cycle of poverty in the developing world? One way you can have an impact is through purchasing "fair trade" items from companies such as Trade as One, which sells beautiful handmade items by women and men in developing countries. On Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 22 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., we will host our second annual holiday gift fair in partnership with Trade as One.

From Trade as One's Web site: “Fair trade allows you to give unique, high-quality gifts to family and friends — while giving hope and income to the poor.” To learn more about Trade as One, please visit TradeAsOne.com.

Support Trade as One by shopping at the gift fair and/or donating homemade Christmas cookies or baked goods for the event. Drop off times include Friday evening and Saturday morning of the event. Please contact Kathy Fisher at kathyfisher1106@sbcglobal.net if you can provide some baked goods and to determine a drop-off time.

Operation Christmas Child
Collection Sundays, November 15 and 22

By taking an ordinary shoe box, filling it with toys and other presents, you have a special gift for a child in need of joy and hope.  Personally pack a shoe box for a child aged 2-4 years, 5-9 years, or 10-14 years that will be distributed all over the world in areas of poverty, war, disease, and natural disaster.  Organized and promoted by the Samaritan Purse organization, a book about the Gospel will be supplied in each shoe box before distribution.

Collection dates at Open Door Church Mountain View:  Sunday, November 15 and Sunday, November 22.

Operation Christmas Child is a great mission project that you can do with family, small groups, or individually.  Volunteers are needed to staff the Collections table on November 15 and 22. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer,  please contact June Darmanian, 650.960.3601, darmanian@earthlink.net.
