Did You Know?

Getting Connected

Looking for a way to get connected?  One of the fastest ways to get to know other people is to serve on a team of volunteers and Open Door Church Mountain View offers MANY opportunities to do just that!  A list detailing several of these opportunities is available in the "Ministry Contacts" section of this blog.  Our volunteer teams are always happy to welcome new members, so if you see something that interests you, please feel welcome to email the contact associated with that listing.

Not sure you're ready to commit to joining a team "full time"?  Let the leader know you're interested in doing "trial run" or in joining the "substitute list" to give the "regulars" a break from time to time.

As always, please feel welcome to contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org, with any questions you may have.

Bible Explorers Begins!
Program: January 8-June 3, 2012

This exciting Bible learning program aims to help children grasp, at their own level of understanding, the importance of God’s word in their lives. Upon completion of the class each student will receive his/her very own Bible at a special graduation ceremony.

All 4th graders as well as any 5th graders, who have not previously taken Bible Explorers, are encouraged to participate. Sign your child up online.  Contact Chris Nicholson, cnicholson@mppc.org.

ODC 101
Sunday, January 22

Are you new to Open Door Church Mountain View? Have you been around a while but you still have a few questions you'd like to have answered?  In either case - or if you'd simply like to meet some of our staff, ministry leaders and some other folks who are looking to get connected - please join us for "ODC 101"!

A light lunch will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated so we can plan for lunch if you know you will attend, but please feel free to join us at the last minute even if you haven't had a chance to RSVP. Contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org.

MISSION: POSSIBLE
Global Mission Potluck
Sunday, January 22

Come learn what God is doing in places like Africa, Haiti, Mexico and Asia through first-hand stories of fellow congregants who have been there and seen Him at work!  Discover the possibilities of how God can use your skills, talents and passions to communicate His love to people around the world!

Chicken nuggets will be provided for the kids, but please bring a dish to share.  Contact John Blaha, johnblaha@earthlink.net.

Great Dates
Saturday, January 28, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
NEW LOCATION - Menlo Park Campus, Fellowship Hall

When was the last time you and your spouse went on a "real" date?  We believe that marriage is one of God's greatest gifts, and successful marriages require quality time together--without the kids!  Each Great Date opens by introducing a specific marriage-related topic, sends you out to dialogue over dinner or a walk, and concludes with dessert and group reflection.

The topic for this January edition of Great Dates will be "Kids, Chaos, and Clutter: Leaning Hard on God's Grace", presented by our very own Scott and Rachel Palmbush!

Childcare is available with online pre-registration required at least one week in advance.   Register at mppc.org.

Connections Dreaming Session
Sunday, January 29, 12:00 noon

Do you enjoy meeting new people?  Do you have a passion for building community?  Do you remember what it’s like to be the “new” person, looking for a place to belong?  If you can answer “yes” to any or all of these questions, come lend your voice to the conversation as we dream of strategies to help newer folks get connected and new opportunities to foster community within our church family!  Light lunch provided.  Contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org.

Taking Faith Home:  Helping Your Kids Follow Jesus
Sunday, January 29, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Come join us as we discuss the importance of sharing faith with our kids, and helping them learn to know and love Jesus in a way that will last a lifetime.  Parents with kids of all ages welcome.

Childcare and dinner provided.  Donations gratefully accepted to cover expenses.  RSVPs strongly encouraged for planning purposes.  RSVP: Jean Ann Chernikoff, jchernikoff@mppc.org.  Questions: Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.
