Hotel de Zink
Throughout November
Menlo Park: 550 Glenwood Ave.Hotel de Zink is a homeless shelter program run by InnVision. Named after a Palo Alto police officer who opened up the police station on cold, rainy nights during the Great Depression to let people come in and sleep, it rotates between 12 area churches, each housing 12-17 people for one month.
Serve our homeless guests while they are with us at MPPC during the month of November, by cooking and/or distributing a meal. Hotel de Zink. November 1-30, Menlo Park: Glenwood Building. This is a great serving opportunity for groups and families; even our youngest ones can participate by drawing pictures and writing notes to put in the sack lunches. More information, and volunteer sign-ups available at mppc.org.
In November:
If you have committed your life to Jesus and have not been baptized, please consider allowing us to share in the joy of your baptism in one of our services on Sunday, November 4.
A church required time of instruction for all who desire to participate, has been scheduled with Pastor Scott Palmbush in the Fireside Room on Sunday, October 28 at 12:00 noon. Please register. Contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org.
Daylight Saving Time Ends
Sunday, November 4, 2:00 a.m. (or before you go to bed on Saturday night, if you don't want to stay up that late) ;)
On the first weekend in November, people far and wide will be enjoying the opportunity to sleep in an extra hour - without running late! As the saying goes, "fall back, spring forward", so don't forget to turn those clocks back an hour on Saturday night, as we say goodbye to Daylight Saving Time and hello to Standard Time, so you can take full advantage of that extra hour in your day!
(If you're looking for something to do with that extra hour, check out this article for more on the history of the Daylight Saving Time tradition around the world.)

The Jesus Dojo | REGISTER
Continues Sunday, November 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Fellowship Hall
"Dojo" is a Japanese word meaning "a place where you learn the way" - referring to a space set aside for training in some kind of discipline, under the instruction of a master teacher. In the Jesus Dojo, Jesus is our Master teacher, and together we will seek to learn from Him how to live in His way.
Using the Lord's Prayer as our guide, we will gather on the 2nd Sunday of each month, through April, for dinner and to learn from our Master teacher how to surrender our whole selves to the purpose for which we were created - to live each moment WITH the God who created us, and to walk in His way. Won't you join us?
REGISTRATION: $30/person covers dinner and materials for all sessions. Childcare available: $30/child covers childcare for all sessions. Contact Judy Lovejoy, jlovejoy@mppc.org.

Register for Bible Explorers!
Program: January 6-June 2, 2013
A love and appreciation of God’s word is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children! The Bible can be a difficult book for children to read and understand. This exciting Bible learning program aims to help children grasp, at their own level of understanding, the importance of God’s word in their lives. Upon completion of the class each student will receive his/her very own Bible at a special graduation ceremony.
All 4th and 5th graders, who have not previously taken Bible Explorers, are encouraged to participate. Online registration will be available soon at odcmv.org. Note that regular, on-time attendance is very important to ensure that your child gains the full benefit of the class. For more information, contact Chris Nicholson, cnicholson@mppc.org.
