Holy Week Services in Mountain View

You are warmly invited to join us during Holy Week and Easter Sunday as we give thought to the experiences of Christ and relate them to our lives.

Maundy Thursday
April 1, 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

Join us for a special remembrance of the the Last Supper of our Lord with his disciples, hosted by our own Scott Palmbush and Tim Boyer, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View!  This combined service has become a beloved tradition for both congregations and will feature a joint choir, a time for communion and an opportunity to anoint one another with oil, as we recall the example Jesus demonstrated as He taught his disciples to serve one another.  You won't want to miss the sweet blessing of this evening, so be sure to mark this on your calendar!

Good Friday
April 2, 12 noon in the Chapel

This contemplative mid-day service will be led by Tim Boyer of First Presbyterian Church and will offer a time to reflect on the great love of our God and His willingness to spare no expense in bridging the gap between death and life so that unbroken relationship with Him could be restored to us now and always.

Easter Sunday
April 4, 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall

Come join the celebration and bring your friends!  Business card sized invitations will be available at church on Sunday, and all are encouraged to prayerfully consider who in your life might be blessed by an invitation to join you for church on Easter Sunday.  Special music during the services and an Easter egg hunt for children following both services will make this a memorable time for all ages.

Easter Helpers for Shepherd’s Village

We’re gearing up to welcome guests on Easter in Shepherd’s Village!  An Easter Egg hunt and lots of other fun things are planned and we’d like to invite you to be a part of creating these wonderful experiences for our kids and their guests. If you’ve ever felt a tug in your heart to help out in Shepherd’s Village but haven’t yet done it, now is the time!  No experience necessary, we have wonderful coaches in each Classroom who will let you know what you can do and who you will be working with.  Come along and join in the fun!

Stop by the Easter Volunteer table on Sunday to sign up or contact Maria Hansen-Kivijärvi, 650-575-3167, mhanki@mppc.org.

Easter Eggs for Castro School Easter Egg Hunt

On Friday, April 2, our Middle School Group will be serving Beyond the Bell, an after school care program for low-income kids at Castro Elementary School.  We will be putting on an Easter Egg hunt for the kids there.  While many of the eggs will be filled with candy, we will also be giving away books and other simple things that the kids in this program very much need.  You are invited to support our Middle School Group in this outreach by donating:
  • plastic eggs for the hunt
  • candy to fill the eggs (Please avoid candy that contains nuts.)
As part of our Outlet program on Sunday, March 28, the Middle Schoolers will be getting ready for the project by stuffing eggs, preparing any decorations or posters, and anything else that we can prepare during that time.  Contact Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.

Navajo Nation Mission Trip to Arizona
July 3-10, 2010 (Applications Due April 1, 2010)

NEW! Join in an Inter-generational Family Mission Experience!
This is our first domestic family/inter-generational trip for ages 5 and older. The whole trip is designed with families in mind. The most important influence on children’s lives is how parents and their families live out their faith.

The team will spend four days in a Navajo community in Arizona working on a construction/renovation project, participating in Kids' Club (similar to a Vacation Bible School), and making home visits to see firsthand what life is like in the community.  There will also be a day off for sightseeing and opportunities to worship with the local church.

This inter-generational trip is open to families, couples and singles.  Adult and Child Applications available in Mission Office and online at http://mppc.org/serve/short-term-mission-trips. Applications due April 1, 2010.  Contact Dana and Juliana Andersen, 650.838.9622, juliana-andersen@comcast.net.

Bless Someone with Flowers on Easter!

In celebration of our Lord’s resurrection and the new life His sacrifice made possible for us, we will be decorating our worship space with potted flower arrangements.  After the 10:30 a.m. service, these potted arrangements will be available on a first-come-first-served basis for anyone who would like to bless a person in need of cheer.  Do you know of a shut-in or perhaps someone in an assisted care facility or hospital?  Please consider delivering an arrangement on behalf of our church to brighten that person’s day.  Questions?  Contact Jane Liddle, jliddle@mppc.org.

Open Door Church Mountain View, in conjunction with First Presbyterian church of Mountain View, will be collecting food each Sunday in March for the Salvation Army.

Help Job Seekers!

Want an easy way to help our job seekers?  Sign up for MPPC’s Career Actions Network!  Here's what one job seeker named Sundra had to say, “I can truly say this service is a blessing for me and a lot of others.  I forward all of your job leads to a distribution list of friends and family, who in turn share them with others who are job searching.  Praise God that several people secured interviews and a few have actually been hired.  By providing a service that is motivating, lives are being changed and spirits lifted.”  Contact Al Hulvey, ahulvey@CareerActions.org.

Services: 9:00 and 10:30 a.m., Sundays, in the Fellowship Hall, 1667 Miramonte Avenue, Mountain View

Office: 1451 Grant Road, Mountain View, 94040, 650.330.7525
