Did You Know?

May is Youth Month!

Every year, during the month of May, we invite the high school and middle school kids to take a more visibly active role in our Sunday morning services.  We use this time to showcase the wonderful ways that God has blessed our church family, and the great things happening in our youth group.

This year, we will cap off our month, on Sunday, May 26, by hearing from our graduating seniors about how their faith has influenced their lives, and take some time in the service to pray for them and their futures. Contact Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.

This connecting opportunity is sponsored by the ODCMV Connections Team.  Contact Brian Moon, bmoon@scu.edu.

The Mix (for high school)
Wednesdays, May 8 & 29

Come hang out with other high school students and group leaders, eat some dinner, play a game, and participate in a short time of teaching and discussion.  These monthly events are a fun time and a great opportunity to bring a friend!  Contact Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.

Look for Open Table brunches/lunches on the 2nd Sunday of next month, as well.  Want to serve as a “host” for an Open Table meal?  Contact Jane Sumner, JaneESumner@aol.com.

Safe@Home Work Day
Saturday, May 25, 9:00 a.m.-12 noon
Work in partnership with Rebuilding Together Peninsula to assist elderly, ill, and needy homeowners with house maintenance. Projects are designed to be fun for the whole family (all ages), and completed within 4-6 hours by a group of 8-12 volunteers, age 12+.

There is space on the registration form to tell us about children under 12, so we can arrange an age-appropriate project for them to participate in.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, May 21. More information is available at mppc.org.  Questions? Contact Bob Arrington, 650.619.4997.

Senior Sunday
Sunday, May 26

To cap off Youth Month we will highlight our graduating seniors.  In the services they will share about how their faith has influenced their lives, and take some time in the service for the congregation to pray that God will continue to work in and through our seniors as they enter a new chapter of their lives.

Want to learn how you can participate in offering continued support to a graduating senior as they launch into adult life?  Contact Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.

Small Groups
Varying times, dates and locations

You don't have to live your life alone!  Small groups provide a safe place where you can be real about doubts, questions and troubles, experience true caring, and develop and deepen friendships.  And, in the process, become more the person God created you to be.

Contact Martin Baynes, martin@baynesfamily.org.

Career Actions Ministry

Typically meets the 1st & 3rd Saturdays each month

Host Homes

Do you have a spare bedroom and bath you could offer for a few months to a Stanford Hospital patient and/or their family members?  The Host Home program is looking for families and individuals willing to minister to those who travel from out of state by offering local housing during Stanford treatments.  This is a chance to minister through practical means to families and/or individuals who are in need.  Contact Sue Passailaigue, suepass@juno.com.

Deacon Ministry: Connecting & Caring

Deacons are ordained officers of the church, who foster connecting and caring within the church community. Their passion is to help connect members of the community with each other and to ministry.  They also provide compassionate response to congregational needs not met by a member’s small group or fellowship group. They care for the community through in-person or over-the-phone prayer, visitation, and occasional help with practical needs (rides, meals).  Contact ODCMV Deacons, 650.330.7540, deacons@odcmv.org.

Men Pursuing Purity

Men Pursuing Purity is a healing ministry for single and married men who long for freedom from the darkness and shame that comes with sexual sin. We bring men to the cross, trusting the Lord to redeem hearts, minds, and souls. In him we find our true selves, loved, forgiven, and healed. In him we find grace and truth (John 1:14).

For all men who have tried repeatedly to leave sin behind, there is hope for real liberation! Men Pursuing Purity is led by men who have experienced healing from sexual addictions, and who minister from compassion, integrity, and total dependence on God.  Contact Craig Lauchner, 650.279.2895, craig_lauchner@yahoo.com.
